NFL Picks Week 1 has some interesting teams playing on the road and getting points. I think if you take these teams, you have a great chance of covering the spread and bringing home some bacon. These early weeks are the best time to make money, before the pretenders and contenders get pegged down, so get your wagers in early.
Pittsburgh Steelers (+2) vs. BALTIMORE RAVENS
The Steelers and Ravens always make for an intriguing matchup. The Steelers went 10-6 against the spread last year while the Ravens went 8-7-1. This automatically makes me like the Steelers a bit more in this game.
Pittsburgh is also 2-0 ATS in games played in Baltimore and should be able to beat the Ravens straight up in this game. I would take the Pittsburgh moneyline if and when available and cash in.
The Steelers defense is too good and the Ravens will not be able to grind out a win this week.
Oakland Raiders (+3) vs. DENVER BRONCOS
Oakland has had Denver’s number recently. The Broncos are getting way too much respect, with Vegas making this game basically a pick ‘em. The Raiders are getting three points because it will be played at Mile High, but they should be able to run right over this weak run defense.
This is another game I would take the moneyline in because the Raiders will win this straight up. Darren McFadden is going to have a field day and the Broncos will be playing from behind the entire time.
Minnesota Vikings (+9) vs. SAN DIEGO CHARGERS
The Vikings are getting no respect this season. They added a quarterback who still has something left in the tank, Donovan McNabb, and have a star running back in Adrian Peterson. The team will be better than advertised and will cover a crazy Week 1 nine point spread.
