Shamcey Supsup Nervous About the Upcoming Miss Universe 2011 Pageant

Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2011 Shamcey Supsup, the country's representative to the upcoming Miss Universe 2011 pageant to be held in Brazil in September, started to prepare for the said much-awaited event.

Supsup revealed that her training includes following a strict diet to gain more weight.

I have to drink milk twice a day. I have to eat more protein or less carbs. Pero I still eat rice. I think I’ve gained weight already. From 105 lbs, I’m now 112 lbs. They want me to gain more like siguro mga 3 lbs na lang,” she said.

Supsup said that although her training regimen is stressful, she gets through it because of the support that she receives from her friends.

The training is stressful. But what makes it more bearable is having friends with you. Nakakatuwa. Kahit ako ang unang ipapadala, lahat sila kasama. Kasama ko sila sa Spanish class, kasama ko sila sa Portguese class, sa gym. Ang mga kasama ko sila ang nagpapagaan ng lahat ng trainings ko,” she said.

Supsup said that she is nervous and excited about the pageant.

Yung excitement at kaba magkahalo na. But then I always tell myself na you just keep your faith and if it’s God’s will, then it will be given to you as you long as you’re ready for it,” Supsup said.

Death Has Never Been Closer Than in ‘Final Destination 5′

No matter where you run, no matter where you hide…you can’t cheat death.

Or can you?

In New Line Cinema’s “Final Destination 5,” the fifth installment of the successful horror franchise, Death once again proves to be the ultimate stalker as it systematically hunts down a group of friends struggling to escape its relentless pursuit.

This time around, Death is unleashed on several coworkers as they embark on a corporate retreat for what should be a quick overnight trip. As the charter bus makes its way toward the location, the route takes them over a massive suspension bridge that arches over a river, where raging waters surge 200 feet below. But their fates are seemingly sealed as the bridge splinters apart right in front of their eyes. Sam, the character who had first presaged the accident, desperately tries to figure out a way to save them, with some degree of success…or so he thinks.

The second of the “Final Destination” films to be shot in 3D, “Final Destination 5” is directed by Steven Quale, marking his feature film directorial debut. The film brings together an ensemble cast, including Nicholas D’Agosto (TV’s “Heroes”), Emma Bell (TV’s “The Walking Dead”), Miles Fisher (TV’s “Gossip Girl”), Courtney B. Vance (TV’s “Flash Forward”) and Arlen Escarpeta (“Friday the 13th”), with David Koechner (TV’s “The Office”) and “Final Destination” franchise icon Tony Todd.

Director Steven Quale says, “In the previous ‘Final Destination’ films, it’s inevitable that they’re going to die, and the question is when and how - that’s the adrenaline rush. But in this movie, we’ve added a twist: a few may have found a way to survive.

For producer Craig Perry, the opportunity to come back for a fifth time offered a chance to not only meet the fans’ expectations, but to rock them out of their seats. “We’re always looking at these films with an eye to taking it to the next level,” Perry says. “One of the things we’ve learned from fans is that they want a gripping, terrifying story that is also an entertaining ride, so we really tried to ramp it up.”

Quale felt that working on a film where the core premise was firmly established provided him with a creative challenge to enhance the bones of the franchise. “I did a marathon screening of all four ‘Final Destination’ movies back-to-back with the mind of a moviegoer, noting what I liked best about each. Then I began to think about what I was going to do once I was behind the camera.”

Screenwriter Eric Heisserer says working on “Final Destination 5” was a writer’s dream job, since setting up the hook of the story isn’t needed. “The ‘Final Destination’ conceit is one of those rare situations where, thanks to the previous four movies, I didn’t need to spend a lot of time on exposition to make sure the audience would get it. It was my intent from the start to write an engaging supernatural thriller that also happens to be a ‘Final Destination’ movie. Like fans, I wanted some heinous kill sequences, but I also wanted to expand the mythology of the world by introducing a moral dilemma for the characters, which forces them to wrestle with the question of what, or who, they value most.”

With the series’ signature chain reaction-style kills always at the center of anticipation for audiences, the scenes have to be bigger and better each time, presenting a fun challenge for the writer.

The toughest thing for me was definitely choreographing the death sequences. I made several trips to various real-world locations where our scenarios are set. I took pictures, drew diagrams, conducted interviews. Often it felt like I was at the scene of some crime, even though none had been committed…yet,” he laughs. “The chain of small, mundane events that, when triggered in proper order, spell disaster for a character, took a lot of careful planning. The flip side of that coin is that, when a death sequence worked, it was easily the most fun to write.

In addition to the death scenes, the producers and Quale were adamant that the story and character development take equal precedence, recognizing the value that comes from engaging the audience to care about the characters, which then makes watching their demise that much more of a visceral, horrifying event.

We set out to make a visually stunning film with dynamic action sequences, beginning with the bridge,” Quale states, “But I also think the characters are people the audience will want to follow. Their storylines really help drive this movie, so we spent a lot of time looking for the right actors for each part. We got very lucky with this group.”

I think we found a great balance with this film,” Perry says. “With the bridge collapse, we’ve got the biggest opening sequence we’ve ever had. Then there’s the sheer suspense of not only what will happen to each of these characters but, more importantly, how it will happen, which is really what sets ‘Final Destination’ movies apart.”

Opening soon across the Philippines in 3D and regular format, “Final Destination 5” is distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Honestly si Iñigo ‘yong nagplano. Nanood na kami ng sine, ‘Harry Potter,’ with friends. Kasama ‘yong family ko. Kasama ko si Mama at saka si Papa.” she elaborated.

Kiray, however, admitted that she is just friends with Iñigo. She even revealed the cute nicknames they call each other.

Apple Cash is $2 Billion Bigger than US Government Cash

Apple has now more money than the U.S. Treasury!

As the government struggled to reach an agreement on raising the debt ceiling, the U.S. Treasury’s cash balance fell to around $74 billion this week. That’s less than the $76 billion that the computer company now has in cash.

It’s just another feat for Apple, the world’s sensational tech company, surpassing the fiscal strength of the world’s most powerful nation.

Its Macs, iPhones and iPads are still the best-selling gadgets worldwide as its has surged past $400 a share. Not to mention that Apple just became the world’s largest smartphone vendor by volume.

With Apple’s piles of cash, no wonder if they decide to buy Facebook or other high-profile tech companies in the future.

Obama approval rating Failed!

Only 40 percent of Americans gave U.S. President Obama an approval ratings according to Gallup daily presidential tracking poll from July 26 - 28, 2011.

However, 41 percent of the public said they approved of the way the U.S President is handling the debt-ceiling negotiations while 52 percent disapproved.

Fil-Am Marko Germar Made Lady Gaga Cry

Filipino-American contemporary dancer Marko Germar who is currently in the Top 6 spot of America’s top-rated dance show “So You Think You Can Dance” made Lady Gaga, who sat as guest judge on the show's July 27 episode, so emotional after his breathtaking performance of Jeff Buckley's "I Know Its Over".

Not just that! The said performance also received a standing ovation from 4 judges and the crowd including Germar's mom and brought an emotional confessions from both Lady Gaga and Germar.

Watch the video below:

When asked about her comment, the Gaga said:

I’m just so proud of you … you really love to dance and I know your mom’s here. There were so, so many things I did wrong when I was younger, and so many things I wish I could take back. And I felt every moment of that through your dance tonight. You are absolutely incredible, and congratulations.”

Which Germar later affirms:

I actually dedicated that piece to her. I wasn’t the best kid — I was a bit of a brat — I said some things and I wanted to make sure, you know, I’m sorry, I love you.”

The show's executive producer and judge Nigel Lythgoe, meanwhile, summed it up by saying that that moment has extended past the parameters of just a TV show, a competition:

I’m sorry Cat I can’t be quick about this because I think we’ve just seen a moment here that is more than the competition. This isn’t now about coming first, second or third. Just watching this and seeing how he danced and how he’s taken this opportunity of speaking to his mother who I know supported him throughout his dancing. I think it’s an absolute remarkable moment that a son can turn around and say, “I love you,” because so many of us didn’t do that and so many of us now don’t have the opportunity of doing it and I do hope that other people watching this show tonight turn around to their mothers and say what they want to say while they have the opportunity of doing so.”

I'm so effin' proud!

But if there’s anything else we still want to know about James, it’s his view of Pinays. Since James has lived in England for most of his life, isn't it good to know what a half-blood hottie like him thinks of Pinays?

Read on and you will surely love it!

30 Seconds to Mars Live in Manila Concert Tonight

"Enjoyment, excitement, escape, connection and some kind of relief from the monotony of music that is out there." This is what 30 Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto hopes people can get from their music.

Once you hear the band's name, you would think they got it in connection with the planet Mars or the galaxies, but it is apparently in no way related to the planet. The band came across a thesis with a subtitle "30 Seconds to Mars," which talks about the fast-paced world and where technology takes humans. 30 Seconds to Mars is actually how band members Jared Leto (vocalist and rhythm guitarist), Shannon Leto (drummer) and Tomo Miličević see how their music is presented.

"Most importantly, it is a good representation of our sound. It's a phrase that is lyrical, suggestive, cinematic, and filled with immediacy. It has some sense of otherness to it. The concept of space is so overwhelming and all encompassing I doubt there is a song written that doesn't fall within it," Jared said in an interview with Shoutweb.

Held as 'Best Rock Band' by MTV Europe Awards in 2010, 30 Seconds to Mars has sold millions of records worldwide and is behind the hit songs 'Kings and Queens,' 'From Yesterday' and 'Closer to the Edge.' 30 Seconds to Mars have three albums so far, 'Thirty Seconds to Mars,' 'A Beautiful Lie' and 'This is War.' Some of their music videos were directed by Jared himself, such as The Kill,' 'From Yesterday,' 'Closer to the Edge,' 'Kings and Queens' and 'Hurricane.' 'Kings and Queens' was MTV Video Music Award's 'Best Rock Video' for 2010.

Formed by the Leto brothers in 1995, 30 Seconds to Mars has already performed in nearly 500 sold-out shows worldwide since 2005, including festival performances such as Lollapalooza in the US, Pinkpop in the Netherlands and Summer Sonic in Japan. Filipino fans will get a chance to rock out with 30 Seconds to Mars as they come here for a one-night only concert 'Thirty Seconds to Mars Live in Manila' tonight at the Trinoma Open Parking. 'Thirty Seconds to Mars Live in Manila' concert is brought by Futuretainment Inc.

The band members may all have different jobs outside the band, but Jared, Shannon and Tomo come together to create music, which encompasses their life.

"For some of us in the band, our involvement with 30 Seconds to Mars borders on obsessive-compulsive territory. It can be kind of an all-encompassing thing. It is a very necessary part, not just of our expression, but our lives," Jared further said in the Shoutweb interview.

Being a musician and an actor, as well, Jared sees film and music two different things, but agrees that both have unique ways in enabling to express one's self. Jared sees music as a different process as of working on a character in a film. "With music, we dictate the story, character, mood and everything else. We create the world rather than just support it," Jared said.
